Notas avulsas sobre A Chinesa de Godard

Ontem tive a oportunidade ver pela primeira vez A Chinesa (La Chinoise, FRA/1967) do cineasta francês Jean-Luc Godard, a meu ver uma das principais figuras do cinema moderno. Neste espaço farei algunas alguns comentários avulsos sobre o referido filme.

A geniliadade godardiana na criação do filme impressiona primeiramente pelo fato de aqui o sujeito conseguir antever e profetizar praticamente todo o maio de 68 francês: as inconsistências e contradições da esquerda  revolucionária, a união entre estudades e o operariado na condução das revoltas, a ocupação de universidades, a greve geral, a ineficácia operativa do movimento estudantil na condução da revolução, a repressão do governo gaullista e a posterior desilusão política dos estudantes. Ista acaba por nos demonstrar a perspicácia de Godard na compreensão dos acontecimentos de seu próprio tempo, qualidade restrita somente aos grandes cineastas.

O aspecto formal do filme, com Godard utilizando-se de uma narrativa não-linear, travellings desordenados e uma montagem baseada em jumping cuts, dá ao filme um ar frenético, típico de outros de suas grandes obras.

Também devemos observa o uso incessante da cor vermelha na fotografia do filme, numa clara referência ao Livro Vermelho de Mao Tse-Tung que é mostrado repetidaas vezes ao longo do filme (tal como podemos ver no cartaz acima) sendo suas passagens citadas na mesma proporção.

Por fim, a condução da obra para que esta esteja em estreito diálogo com seus espectadores demonstra a intenção godardiana de impactá-los politicamente através de seu filme, de modo que a apreciação não seja feita passivamente, assim como para que os especatores saiam da “sala de cinema” de alguma maneira diferentes de como nela entraram. O objetivo  último é que o especatador modifique o filme e também seja de alguma menria também modificado por ele, tal como deve ocorrer em todo cinema político que tem em Godard um de seus grandes nomes.

Post-Scriptum: antes qeu alguém tente condenar o filme devido ao seu cunho polítco relembro o óbvio: uma obra de arte deve ser julgada tão somente por sua qualidade estética intrínseca, não por seu cunho político e/ou ideológico que por ventura venhamos a discordar.

Israel reconhece uso de bomba de fósforo em Gaza

Apesar de inicialmente ter sordidamente negado o uso de bombas de fósforo contra a população civil na Faixa de Gaza, fato que já havia sido relatado por vários médicos em Gaza, o exército israelense acaba de reconhecer o uso de tal arma química, proibida expressamente pela Convenção de Genebra, tal como já haviamos relatado por aqui.

Agora só nos resta reconhecer que é IMPOSSÍVEL que a utilização de bombas de fósforo tenha sido utilizada com o único intuito de “atacar o Hamas” tal como apregoava aos quatros ventos o governo sionista. Dessa maneira, Israel finalmente reconhece seu real objetivo em Gaza: massacrar a população civil.

Judeus anti-sionistas condenam massacre em Gaza

Para podermos desfazer a propaganda de sionistas que acusam pessoas anti-sionistas de serem igualmente anti-semitas, numa sórdida tentativa de identificar anti-sionismo com anti-semitismo, assim como para provar que muitos judeus condenam o massacre em Gaza e dessa forma impedir qualquer manifestação anti-semita de possíveis anti-sionistas, posto este manifesto publicado no jornal britânico The Guardian em 10/01/2009:

The real reason for the attack on Gaza is that Israel is only willing to deal with Palestinian quislings. The main crime of Hamas is not terrorism but its refusal to accept becoming a pawn in the hands of the Israeli occupation regime in Palestine.

The decision last month by the EU council to upgrade relations with Israel, without any specific conditions on human rights, has encouraged further Israeli aggression. The time for appeasing Israel is long past. As a first step, Britain must withdraw the British ambassador to Israel and, as with apartheid South Africa, embark on a programme of boycott, divestment and sanctions.

O tempo de não confrontar Israel acabou. Como primeiro passo, a Grã Bretanha deveria retirar seu embaixador de Israel e, como fez no caso do apartheid na África do Sul, iniciar um programa de boicote, desinvestimento e sanções.

Exército israelense desrespeita a Convenção de Genebra

O atual massacre israelense imposto à população palestina em Gaza vem se notabilizando por constantes desrepeitos por parte do exército israelense a Convenção de Genebra, tal como assinalo neste post:

§1- Os países em guerra não podem utilizar armas químicas uns contra os outros.

O exército sionista vem se utilizando repetidamente de bombas de fósforo ao atacar a população civil palestinas.

Bem, este parágrafo não precisamos nem mesmo citar alguma fonte, não é mesmo?

Isto tudo sem citar o sistemático ataque israelense a escolas palestinas em Gaza, até mesmo escolas da ONU.

Medics have found traces of depleted uranium in victims of Israel’s brutal attack on Gaza, according to a Press TV report, meaning the ultimate death toll could be far higher as future generations are plagued by cancers and birth defects.

“Norwegian medics told Press TV correspondent Akram al-Sattari that some of the victims who have been wounded since Israel began its attacks on the Gaza Strip on December 27 have traces of depleted uranium in their bodies,” states the article.

Following the conclusion of the first Gulf War in 1991, in which depleted uranium was used by U.S. forces, cancers and birth defects in Iraq soared and many veterans organizations agree that the weapon was responsible for the emergence of Gulf War Syndrome that has plagued hundreds of thousands of Gulf War veterans.

Depleted uranium shell holes at the infamous Highway of Death in Iraq showed measurements 1,000 times more radioactive than background radiation. The residue of a DU weapon can be spread by the wind and infect humans not in the immediate area as well as the entire food chain.

In 1999, the UN called for the use of depleted uranium to be banned worldwide but efforts to downplay its effects led by the Pentagon have blocked such a ban.

Former head of the Pentagon’s 1994 U.S. Army Depleted Uranium Project Maj. Doug Rokke has faced constant harassment, including murder attempts, after going public in 1997 to expose the health effects from depleted uranium that the U.S. government and the World Health Organization have consistently dismissed.

Israel’s use of depleted uranium against victims of the Gaza bombing campaign provides further evidence that war crimes are being committed with the tacit approval of both the current administration as well as president elect Barack Obama.

Seguida à conclusão da guerra do golfo em 1991, na qual urânio depledado foi usado por forças americanas, cânceres e defeitos de nascimento aumentaram no Iraque e muitas organizações de veteranos que a arma foi responsável pela emergência da síndrome da guerra do golfo que contaminou centenas de milhares de vidas de veteranos da citada guerra.
Crateras de urânio depledado na infame estrada da morte no Iraque mostraram amostras 1000 vezes mais radioativas que a radiação de fundo. O resíduo de uma arma de UD pode ser espalhado pelo vento e afetar humanos ainda que não numa área próxima, assim como toda a cadeia alimentar.

Em 1999, a ONU pediu para que o uso de urânio depledado fosse banido no mundo inteiro, mas esforços para menosprezar seus efeitos levados a cabo pelo pentágono bloquearam a possibilidade desse banimento.

Encabeçando o projeto de urânio depledado do exército americano de 1994, o Major Doug Rokke enfrentou agressões constantes, incluindo tentativas de assassinato, após ir a público em 97 para expor os efeitos que a substância causa na saúde que o exército americano e a organização mundial de saúde constantemente dispensaram.

We’ve got so used to the carnage of the Middle East that we don’t care any more – providing we don’t offend the Israelis. It’s not clear how many of the Gaza dead are civilians, but the response of the Bush administration, not to mention the pusillanimous reaction of Gordon Brown, reaffirm for Arabs what they have known for decades: however they struggle against their antagonists, the West will take Israel’s side. As usual, the bloodbath was the fault of the Arabs – who, as we all know, only understand force.

Ever since 1948, we’ve been hearing this balderdash from the Israelis – just as Arab nationalists and then Arab Islamists have been peddling their own lies: that the Zionist “death wagon” will be overthrown, that all Jerusalem will be “liberated”. And always Mr Bush Snr or Mr Clinton or Mr Bush Jnr or Mr Blair or Mr Brown have called upon both sides to exercise “restraint” – as if the Palestinians and the Israelis both have F-18s and Merkava tanks and field artillery. Hamas’s home-made rockets have killed just 20 Israelis in eight years, but a day-long blitz by Israeli aircraft that kills almost 300 Palestinians is just par for the course.

The blood-splattering has its own routine. Yes, Hamas provoked Israel’s anger, just as Israel provoked Hamas’s anger, which was provoked by Israel, which was provoked by Hamas, which … See what I mean? Hamas fires rockets at Israel, Israel bombs Hamas, Hamas fires more rockets and Israel bombs again and … Got it? And we demand security for Israel – rightly – but overlook this massive and utterly disproportionate slaughter by Israel. It was Madeleine Albright who once said that Israel was “under siege” – as if Palestinian tanks were in the streets of Tel Aviv.

By last night, the exchange rate stood at 296 Palestinians dead for one dead Israeli. Back in 2006, it was 10 Lebanese dead for one Israeli dead. This weekend was the most inflationary exchange rate in a single day since – the 1973 Middle East War? The 1967 Six Day War? The 1956 Suez War? The 1948 Independence/Nakba War? It’s obscene, a gruesome game – which Ehud Barak, the Israeli Defence Minister, unconsciously admitted when he spoke this weekend to Fox TV. “Our intention is to totally change the rules of the game,” Barak said.

Exactly. Only the “rules” of the game don’t change. This is a further slippage on the Arab-Israeli exchanges, a percentage slide more awesome than Wall Street’s crashing shares, though of not much interest in the US which – let us remember – made the F-18s and the Hellfire missiles which the Bush administration pleads with Israel to use sparingly.

Quite a lot of the dead this weekend appear to have been Hamas members, but what is it supposed to solve? Is Hamas going to say: “Wow, this blitz is awesome – we’d better recognise the state of Israel, fall in line with the Palestinian Authority, lay down our weapons and pray we are taken prisoner and locked up indefinitely and support a new American ‘peace process’ in the Middle East!” Is that what the Israelis and the Americans and Gordon Brown think Hamas is going to do?

Yes, let’s remember Hamas’s cynicism, the cynicism of all armed Islamist groups. Their need for Muslim martyrs is as crucial to them as Israel’s need to create them. The lesson Israel thinks it is teaching – come to heel or we will crush you – is not the lesson Hamas is learning. Hamas needs violence to emphasise the oppression of the Palestinians – and relies on Israel to provide it. A few rockets into Israel and Israel obliges.

Not a whimper from Tony Blair, the peace envoy to the Middle East who’s never been to Gaza in his current incarnation. Not a bloody word.

We hear the usual Israeli line. General Yaakov Amidror, the former head of the Israeli army’s “research and assessment division” announced that “no country in the world would allow its citizens to be made the target of rocket attacks without taking vigorous steps to defend them”. Quite so. But when the IRA were firing mortars over the border into Northern Ireland, when their guerrillas were crossing from the Republic to attack police stations and Protestants, did Britain unleash the RAF on the Irish Republic? Did the RAF bomb churches and tankers and police stations and zap 300 civilians to teach the Irish a lesson? No, it did not. Because the world would have seen it as criminal behaviour. We didn’t want to lower ourselves to the IRA’s level.

Yes, Israel deserves security. But these bloodbaths will not bring it. Not since 1948 have air raids protected Israel. Israel has bombed Lebanon thousands of times since 1975 and not one has eliminated “terrorism”. So what was the reaction last night? The Israelis threaten ground attacks. Hamas waits for another battle. Our Western politicians crouch in their funk holes. And somewhere to the east – in a cave? a basement? on a mountainside? – a well-known man in a turban smiles.
